UGLI WITH COARSE SUGAR AND SEA SALT

UGLI

SPINKLED WITH COARSE SUGAR AND SEA SALT

“The exotic tangelo from Jamaica”

Look for this at your market.  You may pass on it because of it’s appearance.  Don’t let that fool you.  It tastes amazing.  So sweet and juicy.  I just had to tell you about it.

This fruit is a combination of a grapefruit, orange, and tangerine

UGLI WITH COARSE SUGAR AND SEA SALT

Cut the UGLI in half.  Slice a small piece off the bottom so it will sit flat if needed

Slice around each segment

Sprinkle each half with 1/2 tablespoon coarse sugar and a pinch of coarse sea salt

“The Affliction is only skin deep so the Beauty is in the Eating”

I have never seen my husband enjoy a fruit more than this one.

I had an adventurous vacation in Jamaica years ago in the mid 1980′s.  I will never forget the beauty of the Island even though I was robbed in my hotel room while I was sleeping. We were in a cottage on the canal and the hotel moved us to a beach front room.

I’ve never tasted Ugli! I feel Ugli today however…does that count? Robbed . . . well you’ve never told me that story! I will have to look for Ugli, it looks delicious.

I totally remember that! I was always afraid to go there because of that. I have managed to avoid it all of these years because of that story. :0)
