HOW TO: Apple Floral Bouquet

Apple Floral Bouquet

I was admiring the apples on our tree and decided to take a picture of them.  Then we had a terrible storm and that branch broke off.  My husband kept the apples for some reason.  The next day I saw a photo in a magazine of flowers with apples in the bouquet.  What a beautiful idea for apples that fall off the tree too soon.

The Lost Branch

Growing up my mother always made lovely bouquets for our home from the flowers she grew in our yard.  We were taught to smell roses by burying our face deep into the petals.  I loved how they smelled and the soft touch of the petals on my face.  As the years went by I would see my mother teach my nieces and nephews the way to truly enjoy a rose.

A bouquet for my home using some flowers from my garden

I learned this from Martha Stewart!  Use waterproof floral tape and secure a piece of floral foam

Insert wooden skewers into the bottom of each apple

Insert flowers and apples into the floral foam

As I worked in my garden today picking vegetables and flowers, I often thought of my brother Marky.  He passed away several years ago.  He taught me how to make the stone design that I have done in my garden.  He was a wonderful big brother.  He would tell me all the time that “I was the most beautiful girl in the world”.  It made me feel like I was extra special.  Those words have meant so much to me as the years have gone by.  They were the last words he said to me the last time I saw him.  He passed away with all of our family with him.  I was in a hospital recovering from a surgery at the opposite end of the state.  My cousin Kandy and my Aunt Leona brought me gorgeous bouquets of flowers from their gardens.  That meant so much to me.

Flowers can truly brighten someones day, but kind words will last a lifetime
